How to treat large gaps in teeth

Large gaps can be closed by orthodontic correction, or dental restoration can be performed. Large gaps are a common phenomenon in children during the period of tooth replacement, and are mostly seen in the upper jaw where the gap between the central incisors is too large. First of all, dental radiographs should be taken to determine if there are any extra teeth, if there are extra teeth present; if there are no extra teeth, the gap between the incisors can usually be closed by itself, if there are extra teeth present, they need to be extracted as soon as possible. If it is a permanent tooth series with completed tooth replacement, there is no missing tooth but only a large gap, the gap can be closed by orthodontic treatment. It is a better way to minimize the damage to the teeth. If there are missing teeth, or if orthodontic treatment cannot achieve a good bite relationship, dental restoration or dental veneers can be performed. Some can close the gap directly with anterior cosmetic resin restoration or porcelain veneer, if the gap is too large,, an active denture, fixed restoration or dental implant can be restored;. Orthodontic treatment can also be performed before restoration to concentrate the gap on one side and then veneer. To achieve the purpose of closing the gap. Therefore, large gaps can be treated with orthodontic treatment, as well as with resin filling or veneers.
