Armpit odor is a disease that produces an unpleasant odor in the armpits, which is often referred to as fox odor because of the similarity of its taste to the odor discharged from the anus of a fox. The incidence of armpit odor is high, although it does not cause direct harm to the human body, but it is a headache for many people. The unpleasant smell often attracts the blank stares of others, cover the nose and avoid and other troubles, seriously affect social interaction, learning, employment, love and family life, bringing serious psychological and physical pain to patients, patients are therefore introverted, withdrawn, low self-esteem, and even some patients have paranoia and schizophrenia for this reason. 1, so how is caused by armpit odor? There are two kinds of sweat glands in the human body, one is the exocrine glands, also known as small sweat glands, distributed throughout the body, secreting 99% of the water 0.5% of the salt, the other is the top secretory sweat glands, also known as the sweat glands, which exist in the dermis of the skin, opening in the hair root, only in the armpits or pubic and other parts. Since the secretion of the sweat glands is affected by hormones, most people with axillary odor begin to appear after puberty, and are affected by emotions and hormones, and gradually disappear in middle and old age. The sweat glands secrete a thicker fluid that contains oil, protein and other components. Some people have a large number of sweat glands in their armpits, and the secretions accumulate in the armpits, where bacteria multiply and break down the secretions of the sweat glands, and their metabolites produce bad odor. When the temperature is high, the sweat glands secrete more, and the high temperature is suitable for the reproduction of bacteria, the decomposition of the secretions of the sweat glands is faster and the smell is more obvious. Armpit odor may also be related to genetic factors. According to the survey, both parents have armpit odor, the next generation has a higher possibility of developing armpit odor. 2, so how to treat patients for different situations? Usually there are two ways to treat armpit odor: non-surgical and surgical methods. Non-surgical methods are suitable for patients with mild armpit odor, and surgical methods are suitable for patients of all degrees. (1) Non-surgical methods a. Rubbing method. Mainly with topical medication, currently on the market with half-moon clear, armpit odor dispersion, with alum dispersion, the king of fox odor net and other topical drugs. Can also be applied locally aluminum, zinc salts and neomycin or gentamicin emulsion to inhibit the growth of axillary bacteria, apply ice chips, talcum powder, Xishi Lanlu, can reduce sweat gland secretion. Or local use of 75% alcohol or 0. 5% androlatum (PVP-I disinfectant) to kill local bacteria. b. Keep clean and pay attention to personal hygiene. Bathe regularly, change underwear regularly, keep the armpit clean and dry, shave the armpit hair, which can reduce the emission of odor. Develop the habit of bathing in the morning and evening, often neutral soap to clean the sweat glands more concentrated places. Do less excessive exercise, less diet stimulating food, keep a regular life, emotional stability. c. Injection method. Injections are used to inject drugs into the axillae of both sides of the skin to destroy the sweat glands and block their discharge path. (2) Surgical methods The current surgical treatment methods are sweat gland excision, minimally invasive axillary odor radical surgery and laser treatment. All three procedures are performed under local anesthesia without pain. a. Skin sweat gland excision Excision of the skin in the axilla where large sweat glands exist is reliable and can completely cure axillary odor. However, the disadvantage is that the damage is too great and a large area of skin needs to be removed, resulting in local skin defects, more bleeding, and due to the high tension of the skin when suturing, there is a certain restriction on the function of bilateral upper limb activities, and it is easy to cause complications such as wound infection and the formation of a larger surgical scar. Therefore, this surgical treatment method is no longer commonly used, only for serious patients with poor results by other methods of treatment. b. Minimally invasive axillary odor cure is a small incision in the armpit, with a scraper or scissors inserted under the skin of the armpit, carefully remove the sweat glands out of the body, to achieve the purpose of treatment method. It is characterized by less damage, less bleeding, less scarring and shorter recovery time. There is no pulling sensation and other discomfort after healing. c. Laser treatment Traditionally, the sweat glands on the skin are destroyed by high energy instantaneous carbonization with laser, which is characterized by fast treatment and no bleeding. The treatment effect is more reliable. The disadvantage is that the area of damage is large and the depth of laser cauterization of the skin is difficult for inexperienced people to grasp. It is easy to miss the large sweat glands and cause unsatisfactory results, but also easy to produce unsightly scar. Interventional laser treatment of axillary odor is a new method that has been created recently, which is a procedure worth promoting because the laser acts directly on the sweat glands from under the skin through fiber optics, with little trauma and no scarring, avoiding skin burns and not affecting the patient’s work, study and life, and the results are obvious. The surgery is suitable for the following patients: ① no contraindications to surgery; ② untreated patients with axillary odor; ③ relapsed or incomplete by treatment; ④ no scar growth, ulcers, inflammation, etc. in the axillary area; ⑤ non-allergic body, etc. The following points should be noted before and after surgery: ① preoperative bath; ② postoperative oral antibiotics for 3 days; ③ 1-2 days postoperative medication change; ④ 7-10 days stitch removal depending on the surgical method.
