42 weeks is a few months

Normally the entire gestation period is only 40 weeks, or 10 months. 42 weeks is 2 weeks more than 10 months of pregnancy. The number of days of pregnancy or the expected date of delivery is based on the first day of the last menstrual period of the pregnant woman. The number of months of pregnancy is calculated based on 1 month being 28 days, i.e. 1 month is 4 weeks. Usually, the delivery will be started automatically at about 40 weeks of pregnancy, but clinically, 42 weeks of pregnancy is classified as overdue pregnancy, and pregnant women are not recommended to deliver beyond 42 weeks. Pregnant women should go to the obstetrics department before 42 weeks of pregnancy to improve the examination of fetal heartbeat, fetal movement, labor and contractions, and observe the condition of amniotic fluid, placenta and fetus in the uterine cavity, because the amniotic fluid in the uterine cavity decreases in overdue pregnancy, and the fetus is prone to serious complications such as hypoxia. In late pregnancy, pregnant women should learn to self-evaluate the fetal movements to detect abnormalities in the uterine cavity as early as possible and prepare for delivery. If you find frequent or significantly reduced fetal movements, you should go to the obstetrics department in time.
