The original formula of Jade Ping Feng San is Astragalus which has been concocted with honey.
The medicines in Jade Ping Feng San include Fang Feng (防风), honey-roasted Astragalus membranaceus (黃芪), and Atractylodes macrocephala (白术). Its main effect is to stabilize the surface to stop sweating (stopping sweating by consolidating the surface of the muscle) and benefit the qi, and is used for spontaneous sweating due to deficiency of the surface of the muscle (due to the weakness of the surface of the muscle to sweat out naturally frequently). It is used to treat sweating and windy conditions, white color (white and lack of luster), and also to treat deficiency where the coupling between the skin and the skin is not consolidated (often referred to as the skin not being able to consolidate sweat, and the surface of the body sweats abnormally), and is susceptible to wind evils.
Astragalus is the king’s medicine, which is sweet and warm in nature, can replenish the qi of the spleen and lungs, and can also stop sweating and fix the surface. Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae can strengthen the spleen and enhance qi, thus assisting Astragalus in consolidating the surface and benefiting qi. Fangfeng is pungent and moist, and can remove wind evil. The combination of these three drugs can make the surface solid and the qi vigorous, so that the sweat can no longer be leaked out and the wind evil can not invade.
The adverse effects of the above drugs are not clear. If patients experience sweating and other discomforts, it is recommended that they go to a regular medical institution to clarify the cause of the disease and then standardize the treatment, and it is not recommended to use medication on their own, so as not to cause delays in their condition.
