Pediatric cough can be distinguished from cold and heat by clinical manifestations, tongue and pulse. Cold cough: generally refers to wind-cold cough, which can be characterized by frequent coughing, heavy voice, pharyngeal itching, white sputum, thin and thin, thin and white tongue coating, floating tight pulse or floating red fingerprints. Hot cough: there are three types. If it is wind-heat cough, it can be characterized by cough, yellow and sticky sputum, thirst and sore throat, turbid nasal discharge, red tongue, thin yellow moss, floating pulse or purple fingerprints. If it is phlegm heat cough, can be manifested as cough phlegm, yellow sticky, difficult to cluck out, or even phlegm in the throat, yellow urine, dry stools, red tongue, yellow and greasy moss, pulse or fingerprints of the blue and purple, and so on. Yin deficiency cough, can be manifested as dry cough without sputum, or sputum is small and sticky, or even sputum with blood, thirst and dry throat, hot flashes (a burst of fever), night sweats (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, waking up sweating to stop), a red tongue with little moss, pulse (pulse becomes narrow and thin and the rate of acceleration), and so on. If coughing occurs, you should go to the hospital in time, and standardize the treatment under the doctor’s guidance, so as not to delay the condition.
