Ear blockage may be related to cerumen embolism of the external auditory canal, fungal disease of the external auditory canal, foreign body of the external auditory canal and other diseases, and general treatment, medication and surgical treatment should be taken according to the cause of the disease.
1. Cerumen embolism of the external auditory canal: patients with cerumen embolism will manifest as blockage of the ear. For those with hard external auditory canal, it is necessary to separate the cerumen from the wall of the external auditory canal from the upper wall of the posterior wall of the external auditory canal by using a cerumen hook, and then use a cerumen hook to construct cerumen clumps, or follow the doctor’s instructions to use 5% sodium bicarbonate solution to drip the ear, and then rinse out the cerumen with physiological water after the cerumen is softened.
2. Fungal disease of the external auditory canal: Fungal disease of the external auditory canal can also lead to ear blockage, and the patient can take debridement to clean out the necrotic tissue pus or granulation in the ear canal. Some patients can also use 2% muscimol ethanol solution, 3% salicylic acid ethanol solution and other ear drops, or miconazole ointment, ketoconazole ointment and other antifungal ointment under the guidance of the doctor.
3. Foreign body in the external auditory canal: For ear blockage caused by foreign body in the external auditory canal, if the foreign body does not exceed the isthmus of the external auditory canal, it can be removed with a cerumen hook. If the foreign body in the external auditory canal is large, it can be removed under anesthesia through an intra-auricular incision.
Ear blockage can also be caused by cholesteatoma of the external auditory canal and tumor of the external auditory canal. It is recommended that the patient should consult a doctor in a timely manner for a systematic examination to clarify the diagnosis, and follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment.
