What to do if you have an upset stomach

There must be a reason for an upset stomach. On the one hand, it can come from diet, such as eating irritating foods, such as spicy and sour foods, or drinking too much alcohol, which can directly damage the stomach mucosa, or taking medications by mouth that can damage the stomach, such as most antipyretics and painkillers, or eating too much and exceeding the stomach’s digestive capacity.

The other cause is from the stomach itself, such as having a gastric ulcer, gastritis, or even gastric cancer.

So if your stomach is upset, on the one hand, control your diet, eat regularly, don’t overeat, and eat a diet that is easy to digest, don’t eat spicy and acidic foods, avoid alcohol, and avoid taking antipyretics and painkillers without medical advice, and if you have to take them for medical reasons, it’s best to take them after meals.

If your stomach does not improve with these methods, especially if it is combined with dark stools, nausea, or vomiting, you need to see a doctor who will arrange for a gastroscopy or urea breath test to help identify the cause for targeted treatment.
