What happens to people who have had hepatitis B for 30 years or more

Hepatitis B for more than 30 years is a chronic hepatitis B infection, which manifests itself differently in different people. If the patient is in the carrier state, the patient’s life will not be very different from normal people, and the patient’s liver function and liver morphology will not show obvious changes. However, if the hepatitis B virus is not completely eliminated by immune damage, it may lead to liver cell damage, liver fibrosis and cirrhosis and other symptoms. Hepatitis B carriers who have been carrying the virus for 30 years do not necessarily develop the disease. Usually, there are no symptoms and the liver function is normal, and there are no other abnormalities in the liver ultrasound examination. As some hepatitis B virus carriers may develop with the prolongation of infection, but the onset of the disease is not easy to be detected in the early stage, and need to be detected through examination. If the condition of hepatitis B is serious, it may induce severe hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver cancer and other symptoms, so it is recommended that patients with hepatitis B for more than 30 years have relevant examinations every six months, so as to avoid damage to liver function but not get timely treatment.
