How do people with epilepsy cope with pregnancy?

☆ Is it possible to get pregnant with epilepsy? At present, I have more than 10 cases of patients who got pregnant while taking carbamazepine, levetiracetam and lamotrigine for seizure control and taking folic acid under my guidance, and all of them were born with normal healthy children. In one case, the patient took valproate herself and became pregnant, resulting in a cleft lip and palate deformity. ☆ What should I do if I am taking anti-epileptic drugs and I get pregnant accidentally? If you are not going to have one, abort as soon as possible. If you are planning to have one, go to the obstetrics and gynecology department and epilepsy clinic for a good examination and evaluation, including seizure control and medication adjustment, good prenatal examination, monitoring, and timely treatment of any problems. ☆ Why do seizures increase after pregnancy? Due to the increase in seizures caused by changes in progesterone and estrogen level wave points, medication regimen can be adjusted. ☆ Is there any effect on the fetus if seizures occur during pregnancy? Generally, the impact is greater during the early 3 months of pregnancy, so those who are preparing for pregnancy must adjust their treatment plan under the guidance of a specialist to control the seizures ☆ Should I choose to have a normal or cesarean delivery if I have epilepsy? ☆ Can I breastfeed if I am taking anti-epileptic drugs? Generally, breastfeeding is not allowed in case of epilepsy medication.
