What happens when the uterus is unevenly echogenic?

Uterine echogenicity is an imaging description finding that occurs for very many reasons, such as inflammation, fibroids, endometrial polyps, etc. Most of the causes are related to etiologies such as fibroids or adenomyosis (endometriosis). The two main clinical conditions of echogenicity are endometrial echogenicity and myometrial echogenicity. Echogenicity of the endometrium is generally manifested as thickening of the endometrium, which is associated with ovarian estrogen overproduction and progesterone deficiency. In Chinese medicine, it is mainly caused by blockage of Qi and blood, stagnation of blood and dampness and heat in the lower jiao, and the key to treatment is to activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis. The echogenicity of the myometrium is not homogeneous, and the clinical signs of adenomyosis are thickened uterine wall and uneven echogenicity under ultrasound. The clinical symptoms of adenomyosis are increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstruation, lower abdominal pain and discomfort that is aggravated and relieved by the menstrual cycle (pain is aggravated during menstruation and gradually relieved after menstruation). It is recommended to consult a doctor for diagnosis and treatment in combination with clinical symptoms and physical signs. Patients should pay attention to rest, keep warm and avoid eating raw, cold, spicy and other stimulating foods.
