Astragalus has the effect of tonifying qi, strengthening the spleen, supporting toxin and promoting muscle growth, and is used in the treatment of spontaneous sweating and spleen qi deficiency; maitake has the effect of nourishing yin and moistening the lungs, clearing the heart and removing vexation, and is used in the treatment of dry cough and less phlegm; codonopsis has the effect of tonifying the spleen and lung qi, replenishing the blood and generating fluids, and is used in the treatment of deficiency of the lungs, spleen and qi.
Astragalus has the effect of tonifying qi and elevating yang, fixing the surface and stopping sweating, inducing diuresis and eliminating swelling, generating fluids and nourishing blood, promoting stagnation and paralysis, supporting toxin and draining pus, and converging sores and muscles. It can be used for treating qi deficiency and weakness, loose food, prolonged diarrhea and prolapse of the anus, bleeding in stool and leakage, sweating, edema, blood deficiency, paralysis and numbness, carbuncle and gangrene, and long time ulceration and non-convergence and other diseases.
Ophiopogon has the effect of nourishing yin and generating fluids, moisturizing the lung and clearing the heart. It is used in the treatment of lung dryness and dry cough, cough with deficiency of yin, paralysis of the throat and sore throat, thirst due to injury of fluids, thirst due to internal heat, heartburn and insomnia, constipation due to dryness of the intestines and other diseases.
Radix Codonopsis pilosulae has the effects of strengthening the spleen and lungs, nourishing blood and generating body fluid. It is used for treating deficiency of spleen and lung qi, poor appetite and tiredness, cough and asthma, deficiency of qi and blood, yellowish color, palpitation and shortness of breath, thirst due to injury of fluids, internal heat and thirst, and so on.
