Gum enlargement is a manifestation of typical gum inflammation and should be treated promptly for gingivitis and periodontitis so that the gum enlargement problem can be completely resolved. Gingivitis and periodontitis are usually present in the mouth with the symptoms of gum enlargement, and both gingivitis and periodontitis are the most common periodontal diseases. Periodontal disease is a disease of the soft tissues surrounding the teeth, formed by plaque acting on the teeth and irritating the periodontal tissues, and the initiating factor of periodontal disease is plaque. The main treatment for gingivitis and periodontitis is basic treatment, including supragingival scaling and subgingival scraping. Supragingival scaling uses ultrasonic shock to remove calculus and plaque from around the teeth. Subgingival scraping is performed manually to remove the calculus and plaque below the gingiva around the tooth and some inflammatory granulation tissue. The area is then rinsed with 3% hydrogen peroxide and saline to trade, then iodoglycerin is applied locally to decongest the periodontal tissues, and finally mouthwash is used to rinse the mouth to consolidate the healing process. This will treat the inflammation of the gums well and quiet the inflammation of the periodontium. Gingivitis and periodontitis must be diagnosed and treated at an early stage. If the gingivitis is controlled at an early stage, then the gingivitis will be cured and will not develop into periodontitis. Once it develops into periodontitis, after timely treatment, periodontitis will also be quiescent and will not continue to develop and form more serious consequences at a later stage.
