Loose stools with strong stomach and weak spleen are mostly related to damp-heat syndrome (solid-heat lesions in the body caused by damp-heat evil) and spleen deficiency and dampness (a series of symptoms caused by the decline of the spleen’s function and internalization of dampness), and can be treated with Chinese herbal formulae such as Bai Hu Plus Ginseng Soup and Liu Jun Zi Pill.
1. Damp-heat solid type: White Tiger with Ginseng Soup can be used, which is composed of Gypsum, Zhimu and Ginseng. It has the effects of clearing heat, benefiting qi and generating body fluid. It can be used for treating typhoid fever (fever caused by feeling cold), wintry disease, summer disease with excessive heat in the qi portion of the body and two injuries to the body’s fluid and qi, fever and thirst, sweating and cold (fear of cold) and other illnesses.
2. Spleen deficiency and dampness: Six Gentlemen Pills can be used, which is composed of Codonopsis, Atractylodes macrocephala (fried in bran), Poria and other traditional Chinese medicines. It has the effects of tonifying the spleen and benefiting qi, drying dampness and resolving phlegm (dispelling dampness by drying dampness and resolving phlegm). It is used in treating weak spleen and stomach, poor appetite, deficiency of qi and phlegm, abdominal distension and loose stools (thin and unshaped feces).
The adverse reactions and contraindications of the above formula are not clear, it is forbidden for those who are allergic to Bai Hu Jia Ginseng Tang and Liu Jun Zi Wan, if relevant symptoms occur, they should seek medical advice and use it under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.
