How large an adnexal cyst can usually be eliminated by itself

The size of adnexal cysts that can be eliminated on their own cannot be generalized, but needs to be judged in the context of the nature of the cyst and the specific cause. There are many types of adnexal cysts, including physiological cysts, inflammatory cysts, chocolate cysts, and even cystic tumors of the ovaries. Among them, physiological cysts mainly include follicular cysts and corpus luteum cysts, if the cysts are smaller than 3-4 cm, they can mostly disappear on their own after a few months. Inflammatory cysts caused by chronic inflammation mostly require antibiotic anti-infection or surgical treatment, and only a very small percentage may disappear on their own. In contrast, chocolate cysts and cystic tumors of the ovary do not disappear on their own and require surgical treatment to disappear. For cysts less than 5 cm in the adnexal area, it is recommended to review the ultrasound every 3-6 months. If the cyst grows within a short period of time, surgery is required. And for perimenopausal ovarian cysts, surgical removal is mostly recommended.
