Lotus seed bud is the Chinese medicine lotus seed heart, can be used for medicinal purposes.
Lotus heart, is the dried young leaves and embryonic root in the mature seeds of the lotus of the Sleeping Plant Family, cold in nature, bitter in flavor, attributed to the heart, kidney meridian.
The effects of lotus seed heart are to communicate with the heart and kidney (heart fire descends, kidney water rises, mutual control), clear the heart and tranquilize the mind, astringent essence and stop bleeding.
It is mainly used in the treatment of heat into the pericardium (heat evils invading the pericardium), delirium tremens (clinically characterized by confusion, high and powerful voice, incoherent speech), heart-kidney dysfunction (refers to the imbalance of water and fire in the heart and kidneys, clinically characterized by heartburn, insomnia, tinnitus, lumbar and knee soreness and weakness), insomnia, spermatorrhea, and hemorrhagic blood heat and bleeding, and so on.
Lotus seed heart is taken internally by decoction. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Lian Zi Xin are not clear.
