Condoms can expire. The female condom is made of polyurethane plastic, soft and tough, with a plastic ring at each end. It dissolves automatically in the body, providing effective contraception and protection against sexually transmitted diseases. Because the material polyurethane plastic is prone to deterioration and oxidation in the presence of oxygen, it often has a certain expiration date. The male condom is similar to the female condom in that it is made of special materials, most often made of special polyurethane materials. Since there is also material oxidation and deterioration, male condoms also need to have an expiration date, during which they can effectively prevent sexually transmitted diseases and prevent each other from becoming pregnant.
