What to do when a three-year-old gets tuberculosis

A three-year-old child with tuberculosis should seek medical treatment in time, and according to the type and severity of tuberculosis, it should be handled through chemotherapy, symptomatic treatment and surgical treatment. 1. Chemotherapy: After children get tuberculosis, they should reasonably apply anti-tuberculosis drugs by following the choices of early, regular, whole course, appropriate dosage and combination, commonly used are isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, ethambutol and streptomycin. 2. Symptomatic treatment: while using anti-tuberculosis drugs, suitable drugs can be used according to the symptoms, such as ibuprofen can be used to reduce fever if high fever persists; aminocaproic acid can be used to stop hemoptysis in case of small amount of hemoptysis, and positional drainage, negative pressure suction and tracheal intubation are required to rescue large hemoptysis. 3. Surgery: Surgery can be used if drug treatment fails or if there is life-threatening unilateral tuberculosis. Parents must pay attention to their children’s health and seek medical treatment as soon as possible once they realize that their children have suspected tuberculosis symptoms.
