Possible reasons for feeling the urge to defecate can be categorized into physiological and pathological, physiological factors such as mental tension; pathological factors, commonly rectal and extra-rectal diseases. 1. Physiological factors: if there is a feeling of incomplete bowel movement, but no disease after the relevant examination, it may be due to mental tension. 2. Pathologic factors: both rectal and extra-intestinal diseases may cause patients to have a feeling of incomplete bowel movement. (1) Rectal diseases: Inflammatory diseases of the rectum such as sinusitis and proctitis, due to inflammation stimulation of the intestinal mucosa, there will be a feeling of impure defecation and always wanting to defecate. Rectal tumor compressing the intestinal tract may present the symptom of frequent bowel movement. (2) Diseases outside the rectum: such as bacillary dysentery, ulcerative colitis, pelvic floor hernia, pressure to the rectum may appear to feel like always wanting to defecate.
