Breast cancer pathology reports are staged according to three items: lesion size, lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis. Currently, malignant tumors are staged according to TNM, which can be staged according to clinical examination results (cTNM) or according to pathological examination results (pTNM). According to the pathological examination results, if the primary lesion is carcinoma in situ, it is recorded as Tis, lesion ≤2cm as T1, lesion in 2~5cm as T2, lesion >5cm as T3, and invasion of chest wall, skin, or inflammatory breast cancer as T4. Lymph node metastasis in 1~3 axillary lymph nodes or microscopic metastasis of internal breast sentinel lymph nodes in pathologic examination results was labeled as N1, and 4~9 axillary lymph nodes or internal breast lymph nodes only was labeled as N3. no distant metastasis was labeled as M0, and distant metastasis was labeled as M1. The stage 0 of pTNM is TisN0M0, stage 1 is T1N0M0, and stage 2 is T0~1N1M0, T2N0~1M0 or T3N0M0. Breast cancer staging is one of the important indicators for adjuvant treatment, so accurate staging is needed, and it is recommended that patients consult with specialists for specific staging to avoid misjudgment of staging on their own.
