Eyelid pain and swelling is a very common clinical manifestation in daily life and can occur in the upper eyelid as well as in the lower eyelid. The main manifestation is redness and pain in the local tissues of the eyelid. There are many causes of this condition, such as blepharocysts and mydriasis, which are the two most common eye lesions that cause eyelid pain and swelling; blepharocysts are caused by blockage of the lid gland, while mydriasis is caused by infectious factors. Another common cause is trauma to the eye. Redness and swelling of the local tissues of the eyelid skin can occur after trauma to the eye. In the case of skin lacerations, redness and pain in the local tissues of the eyelid can also occur during the recovery period after skin laceration debridement and suturing. Eyelid pain and swelling can also be caused by some allergic factors, such as allergy to certain eye cosmetics. Eyelids can also become sore and swollen when they are irritated by bright light. As mentioned above, most of the eyelid pain and swelling occurs due to organic lesions of the eye and some allergic factors. Of course, there are other factors, such as the aforementioned trauma. Sometimes overexertion of the eyes can also cause eyelid pain and swelling.
