Puncture aspiration is the main treatment modality in Chinese medicine for lactating mastitis with abscess formation, and with the application of this scientific modality, puncture aspiration for breast abscesses is now also considered as the main treatment modality in the 2013 edition of breast oncology, while abscess incision and drainage is used as an additional treatment modality. Less invasive and faster healing are the main features of puncture aspiration for breast abscesses, and the main reason why most patients choose this treatment modality. However, there are certain risks and sequelae associated with simple puncture and pus extraction. After a lot of clinical observations, the Breast Inflammatory Disease Treatment and Prevention Center of Chongqing Hospital found that single puncture pus extraction can cause postoperative inflammatory swelling formation, and most patients think that the inflammatory swelling can be absorbed on its own and do not pay attention to it. However, long-term follow-up in our department found that some patients did not disappear for a long time and even needed surgical excision treatment, and some patients had the mass still existed 1 year after treatment and the inflammatory mass increased again after another pregnancy. Based on such observations, we combined Chinese and Western medicine to treat inflammatory masses after puncture and pus extraction, and we used a combination of oral and external Chinese medicine and physical therapy. We have achieved remarkable results in the treatment of inflammatory breast masses.
