Antiepileptic drug oxcarbazepine and clinical relevance

  1. It can be taken on an empty stomach or with food, as food does not affect the absorption and absorption rate of oxcarbazepine 2. It is absorbed quickly after oral administration, at least 95% of the dose, and rapidly degrades to the active ingredient 10.11-dihydro-10-hydroxy-carbamazepine. Oxcarbazepine is rapidly eliminated from the serum with a half-life of 1.3-2.3 hours, but its active ingredient serum half-life is about 9.3 hours.  3.High renal clearance and short half-life of 5-9 hours in children and about 10 hours in adults.  4.The starting dose is 600mg (8-10mg/kg/day) in two divided doses. Increase the daily dose every other week, the daily maintenance dose between 600mg~2400mg, the vast majority of daily 900mg. 5, adverse reactions: fatigue, dizziness, ataxia, rash 6, contraindications: known rash, and atrioventricular block 7, taking precautions: physicians may not remember a lot, it is recommended that patients are clear, they are their own doctors. In the event of signs of allergic reactions, immediately discontinue the drug and seek medical attention. May affect the ability to drive and manipulate machines, caution is needed.  8. For women receiving antiepileptic treatment, folic acid needs to be added before and during pregnancy. Vitamin K1 should be added during the last weeks of pregnancy, as antiepileptic drug therapy can cause clotting disorders in newborns.
