What are the precautions for initial adhesive aligners

In order to achieve the best treatment results, please make sure you keep in mind the following precautions: (1) Aligners (brackets) are fixed to the tooth surface by bonding and will not fall off under normal circumstances, including eating. However, if you eat something too hard, especially if you gnaw on the bone, the brackets will fall off from the tooth surface and lose their function. Therefore, during the orthodontic period, avoid eating foods with bones, including chicken, rabbit, ribs, etc.; of course, there is no problem with the net meat that has removed the bone. In addition, do not swallow the food, chew slowly. If you feel a hard object against the bracket when chewing, you cannot continue to bite. Once the bracket is dislodged, the tooth will lose control, which will affect the efficacy and prolong the course of treatment, and additional costs will be incurred for re-sticking the bracket. (2) After eating, food residue will gather around the aligner, if not removed in time, it will erode the teeth, cause gingivitis and produce odor. Therefore, it is important to brush your teeth immediately after each meal (including three meals and snacks) and carefully check for any food or soft white scale left around the aligners. If you are at school at noon, please bring your toothbrush with you to school. Please also bring your toothbrush with you every time you come to the hospital for a follow-up appointment. For small crevices that cannot be accessed by a regular toothbrush, you will need to buy a “small head” toothbrush or “interdental brush”. For those who are especially prone to caries, especially adjacent surface caries, you need to learn to floss with braces. In case of going out without toothbrush, chewing gum is also helpful (chewing gum does not cause the brackets to fall off). (3) The teeth will produce a slight pain after each reappointment and force. This pain is usually tolerable and no medication is required. The pain usually lasts 3-7 days and rarely more than 1 week. To reduce pain, choose foods that are as soft as possible. At the beginning of treatment, ulcers may develop due to the irritation of the mucosa by the metal, at which point mucosal protective wax may be used. If a sharp part of the aligner (such as the end of the wire) is suddenly found to pierce the mucosa, it can be treated at our hospital at any time.
