Blood uric acid may rise to some extent after exercise, related to the type and duration of exercise. Patients are advised not to exercise strenuously before taking the uric acid test so as not to affect the results.
Appropriate exercise generally does not cause an increase in blood uric acid levels, but it can cause an increase in uric acid after strenuous anaerobic exercise. After high-intensity anaerobic exercise the body needs to supply the energy required by the body through the glycolytic pathway, but the glycolytic pathway produces too much lactic acid that accumulates in the muscles. Lactic acid will hinder the excretion of uric acid, thus leading to elevated blood uric acid levels.
Not only that, heavy sweating after strenuous exercise can also lead to elevated blood uric acid concentration if not hydrated in time.
It is recommended that people suffering from hyperuricemia and gout avoid strenuous exercise, can be appropriate aerobic exercise, after exercise should drink a moderate amount of water to promote uric acid excretion.
