Recently, we have been seeing many patients with periarthritis in our clinic, and there is a lot of concern about how to do self-exercise at home. We would like to recommend a previous article from our pain center to help those who need it. In life, anyone has experienced shoulder pain. Sometimes the shoulder pain goes away quickly, but sometimes the pain gets progressively worse instead. This is the time when patients should be alert – this shoulder pain is not ordinary, it may be frozen shoulder. Frozen shoulder, also known as frozen shoulder, is a chronic inflammation of the muscles, tendons, bursa, joint capsule and other soft tissues around the shoulder, and is more common in people around 50 years old. In addition, young people who work at a desk for a long time and whose shoulder muscles and ligaments are under tension are also prone to this condition. Frozen shoulder is divided into an acute phase, a chronic phase and a recovery phase. In the acute phase, the pain is more severe and the muscle spasm caused by the pain often causes dysfunction. Therefore, the purpose of treatment in the acute phase is to relieve pain, relieve muscle spasm, improve local blood circulation, and prevent joint dysfunction. Rehabilitation of the shoulder joint is important. During the exercise, care must be taken to avoid its re-injury. In particular, active exercises such as the limb touching exercise can sometimes cause re-injury to the already inflamed shoulder joint due to excessive exercise, which is not conducive to rehabilitation. Gravity traction can effectively relieve the pain of frozen shoulder. With gravitational traction, the relaxed shoulder joint can increase its mobility and avoid further injury, which is beneficial for recovery. The operation steps of gravitational traction method are: If the patient has right shoulder pain, stand on the left side of the body near the table (the table is as high as the waist is appropriate), support the human body on the corner of the table with the left arm, relax the right shoulder joint and upper limb muscles so that it drops naturally, you can tie a sandbag to the wrist to carry weight, the weight is 1-2 kg is appropriate. Then the right shoulder joint as the axis, the right arm as the radius to do gravity traction under the circular motion. Initially, due to pain, the radius of the circular motion will be small, but as the pain eases and the shoulder joint activity increases, the circle drawn will gradually increase. This exercise should be noted: 1. Be gentle, do not use brute force. 2. When exercising, elderly patients must be watched over to avoid falls due to unstable standing. 3, the wrist weight should be gradual, not too much weight or too eager to achieve. 4. Be sure to go through the pain specialist’s consultation and under his guidance.
