Uterine fibroids may grow back after laparoscopic surgery.
Uterine fibroids are common benign tumors in gynecology. If there are no symptoms of uterine fibroids, no treatment is needed and observation is sufficient. Some women may experience symptoms such as increased leukorrhea and pain in the lower back and abdomen, which need to be treated with surgical removal via laparoscopy, such as myomectomy, subtotal hysterectomy, total hysterectomy, and so on. However, fibroids may grow back after laparoscopic surgery.
Generally, if uterine fibroids are taken to transperitoneal laparoscopic myomectomy, there is a possibility of recurrence and they may grow back. If fibroids are removed by subtotal hysterectomy, they may grow back, but the chances of them growing back are very small. If the fibroids are treated with a total hysterectomy, they will not grow back.
If the fibroids require laparoscopic surgery, it is recommended to choose the appropriate surgical treatment plan in conjunction with your professional doctor’s diagnosis and treatment advice.
