How to detect bowel cancer early?

Yang retired last year, the community organization stool occult blood screening, he also went to check, the results were positive, the community doctor recommended that he go to a higher hospital for colonoscopy. He thought his stool was normal, no blood in the stool, no abdominal pain, diarrhea and other uncomfortable symptoms, so he didn’t care. After two months, he went to the community hospital because of other discomforts. The community doctor knew about his previous occult blood in his stool and learned that he did not pay attention to it and did not go for a colonoscopy, so he was advised to go again and had a screening test for occult blood in his stool. The results were positive again, so he started to get a little nervous and rushed to our hospital for a colonoscopy, which was really a malignant tumor of the sigmoid colon. I quickly arranged for inpatient surgery, the surgery and post-operative recovery were very smooth, the pathology results “pronounced” down, fortunately, no lymph node metastasis. The old Yang was very glad that he had a colonoscopy in time, if he had not taken it seriously and continued to drag on, the consequences would have been unthinkable. Nowadays, due to the change of diet structure, the incidence rate of colorectal cancer (colorectal cancer) in China, especially in Shanghai, is rising rapidly, ranking third, and has a tendency to overtake the “second” stomach cancer (the “champion” is lung cancer). Early detection can greatly improve the chance of survival. Usually colorectal cancer will have symptoms such as blood in stool, difficult or unformed stool, and increased frequency, but in a few cases, there can be no abnormal bowel movement like Lao Yang (see my other popular science article “Blood in stool, how to know if you have hemorrhoids or bowel cancer?) . Then how to find out? If it is positive, honestly check the colonoscopy further. Another characteristic of bowel cancer is that it basically evolves from benign adenoma to cancer, which is a period of several years, so there is enough time to detect it through colonoscopy. If you have the condition, it is recommended to have a comprehensive medical checkup once a year, many hospitals have medical checkup centers. Fecal occult blood and tumor markers are routine checkup items, and gastroscopy can be chosen independently according to the situation. Other tests such as CT lung can detect lung nodules and even lung cancer at an early stage. In short, physical examination can be detected early and treated early, otherwise, when small diseases become big diseases, treatment will cost more money and people will suffer more, which is more than worth the loss!
