Targeted therapy for ankylosing spondylitis – Biologics

Ankylosing spondylitis is one of the common diseases in rheumatology, and the introduction of biologic agents has brought a boon to patients with ankylosing spondylitis. Traditional immunosuppressants have been used with some concern because of leukopenia and liver transaminase abnormalities in a few cases. Biologics are of interest to patients because they specifically target tumor necrosis factor and are effective with few side effects. Biological agents combined with traditional immunosuppressive agents can achieve good therapeutic effect. The disease can be well controlled by adhering to the treatment for more than one year. During the remission period, pay attention to the warmth, regular diet, and moderate exercise to prevent the disease from recurring. If slight activity of the disease is detected, timely adjustment of the treatment plan can quickly control the disease and avoid aggravation.
