Can a ct of the larynx rule out laryngeal cancer?

Generally speaking, CT examination cannot completely exclude laryngeal cancer. The exclusion of laryngeal cancer is mainly based on electronic laryngoscopy and pathological diagnosis, so CT examination cannot completely exclude laryngeal cancer. Moreover, CT examination is usually more sensitive to lesions over 1cm, while CT examination may miss the diagnosis of small laryngeal cancer lesions, especially when the patients do not have obvious clinical symptoms. Symptoms of laryngeal cancer vary according to the location of the disease, but hoarseness, discomfort in swallowing, sore throat, cough, dyspnea, dysphagia, etc. are common. When the above symptoms appear, consult the doctor in time. It is suggested that if laryngeal cancer is suspected, laryngoscopy can be carried out, and if an obvious mass is found during laryngoscopy, a biopsy can be taken under the guidance of laryngoscopy to do pathological examination, so as to exclude laryngeal cancer.
