Can you do radiation therapy with an ostomy?

Radiotherapy can usually be done with a stoma. The contraindications of radiotherapy do not include people with stoma; stoma is caused by digestive or urinary system diseases, which requires surgery to lead one end of the intestinal tube to the body surface and form an opening; having a stoma will not affect the effect of radiotherapy, and radiotherapy can be done under the guidance of physicians. Radiotherapy is an effective measure for treating some tumors; doing radiotherapy is not suitable for tumors that are not sensitive to radiotherapy; patients with acute inflammation and heart failure should do radiotherapy after controlling their conditions; lung cancer needs to do radiotherapy for a larger area, and don’t do radiotherapy when the lungs are not functioning properly; patients with stoma shouldn’t be reluctant to do radiotherapy if they have contraindications to radiotherapy. If patients with stoma have contraindications to radiotherapy, they should not be forced to undergo radiotherapy. If patients with stoma have discomfort from radiotherapy, they should actively contact the attending doctor to reflect the situation and follow the standardized treatment.
