Sternum ringing may be due to the following reasons: First, it may be a physiological ringing. This situation is often seen in patients who have been sitting and standing with their heads down for a long time, or have adopted a prone sleeping position, so that the sternum is distorted and squeezed for a long time, and it is possible that the popping of the joints around the sternum occurs during the process of the patient lifting the chest and doing the activity of stretching. After this ringing, there is no local pain and unfavorable activity, it is a physiological state. Second, this condition may be caused by injury to the sternum. For example, if there is a fracture in the sternum, there will be a bone rubbing sound and a bone rubbing sensation during the patient’s movement of the thorax. In addition to this, if there is an old injury to the sternum, there may also be a similar ringing sound. Thirdly, this condition may be caused by arthrosis around the sternum. For example, if there is a dislocation or fracture of the sternoclavicular joint, which is the part where the sternum and clavicle meet, there may be a ringing sound around the sternum during the movement of the thorax or upper limbs.
