What is the role of HCG?

For women who have been preparing for pregnancy for a long time and want to know if they are successfully pregnant, apart from using early pregnancy test paper to test, to know more accurately whether they are pregnant or not, it is necessary to use hcg. I believe that most people can guess what the role of hcg is, and yes, hcg test is an important indicator that can be very accurate to know whether the pregnancy is successful or not. HCG, also known as human chorionic gonadotropin, is a glycoprotein secreted by the trophoblast cells of the placenta. HCG can be detected in the blood when the fertilized egg is laid on the 7th to 8th day of fertilization, and its concentration increases exponentially with the increase of pregnancy weeks, reaching a peak at 8-10 weeks of pregnancy and then decreasing rapidly to 10% of the peak after 1-2 weeks. hcg has the following functions in addition to determining whether or not pregnancy is present: 1. Ectopic pregnancy Ectopic pregnancy: the HCG value of a normal pregnant woman will increase several times every 2 days. If the increase in the result of blood drawn every two days is less than 66%, that is, the blood hCG test is lower than the level of normal intrauterine pregnancy, but higher than the level of hCG in the absence of pregnancy, it is possible that the pregnancy is ectopic. The hcg value of ectopic pregnancy, the blood hCG test in ectopic pregnancy may be lower than the level of normal intrauterine pregnancy but will be higher than the hCG level in unpregnant pregnancy. The left adnexal mass may be an inflammatory mass or may be ectopic embryonic tissue. If the value of hCG continues to decrease, it means that it is not suitable to continue to keep the pregnancy, and we should consider whether we should stop the pregnancy; if the hCG keeps increasing, it means that the pregnancy is successfully kept. If the blood hCG of early pregnant women is significantly low (below 2500 IU/L) or continuously monitored with a decreasing trend, then there is a possibility of miscarriage or stillbirth. The hcg test can also find out whether the uterus is clear and clean at the time of abortion, and the HCG test is positive if the surgical abortion is incomplete. The hCG changes from positive to negative in case of complete abortion or stillbirth, so the blood hCG value can be used as a reference basis for aspiration treatment. Generally, in the 9th week of pregnancy, the normal value of hcg is in the range of 10000~1000000lU|L, and this value is also the highest period, which will slowly decrease in the 12th week. So both women who are preparing for pregnancy and pregnant mothers should not only know the neutrality of hcg, but also the normal value corresponding to hcg during pregnancy. 3.What should be noted when doing hcg test HCG is a protein-like hormone with gonadotropic development produced by placental chorionic trophoblast cells, consisting of two peptide chains, alpha and beta. The beta-HCG test is usually done in hospitals for cell tropism and pregnancy diagnosis. Some moms don’t know which test to use for better results, so if they are not sure, they can consider testing twice, or they can consider doing both to ensure authenticity. For beta-HCG testing, doctors usually recommend blood HCG testing, while urine testing is easily affected by other factors, such as some hormones, such as LH hormone, which can react with test strips and give false positives, and thyroid hormone, which can have an effect. And it is difficult to identify which false positive is which, so the urine test has to interfere more than the blood beta-HCG. Blood HCG negative, urine HCG shows positive, first of all, we should consider the problem of false positive, firstly, it may be related to the degree of concentration of urine, the longer the storage time of urine, the more HCG will be accumulated, and the test with the kit will show false positive. Secondly, it may be due to the abnormal increase of enzymes secreted by trophoblast macrophages to lyse β-HCG during very pregnancy, so that too much degradation products are secreted into the urine, resulting in false positive. The general HCG of urine cannot objectively reflect the condition, and the activity of trophoblast cells should be monitored at the same time to provide an accurate basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment, and the blood HCG measurement results should be the most accurate. You can consider testing twice, if the blood HCG is negative, then the urine is a false positive.
