A toothache accompanied by a headache is an indication of severe radiating pain caused by pulpitis. In the acute phase of pain, you can take painkillers, such as ibuprofen or fenpropathrin, to relieve the pain. You can also apply a cold compress to the tooth, such as a medical ice pack or a bottle of chilled mineral water, to the cheek for about half an hour to relieve the pain. For pain caused by inflammation, you can also take anti-inflammatory drugs in moderation, such as oral cephalosporin, erythromycin, amoxicillin, combined with metronidazole tablets or ornidazole tablets to reduce inflammation. For severe pain caused by pulpitis, in addition to the usual oral medication, root canal treatment should be performed in the hospital. Root canal therapy is the only effective treatment for pulpitis and periapical inflammation. The infected pulp nerve is removed by root canal therapy and the pain will disappear after the nerve is removed.
