What to do if you have a wisdom tooth extraction and a misaligned bite

Generally, wisdom tooth extraction does not cause occlusal discomfort. When the wisdom tooth is located deeper and its resistance is greater, some surgical trauma will be greater during the extraction process, and the local soft tissues will also be significantly swollen after the operation, and there may be temporary occlusal discomfort, which will disappear completely when the extraction wound is fully recovered. However, some patients may need to use a hammer to extract the tooth because the location is very complicated, which may cause some damage to the joint, that is, there will be trauma. In this case, after the extraction, you should try to eat a liquid diet or semi-liquid diet and avoid opening your mouth widely to allow the joint to recover. Usually the occlusal relationship will be restored in about two weeks. The main and most serious case is when the patient’s bone is very loose and his teeth are deep, and during the extraction process, a fracture of the mandible may occur when the hammer strikes, which can cause bite disorder, but the chance is very small, maybe one in a thousand. So once there is a misalignment of the bite, do not be nervous, but check what exactly caused it. If it is simply caused by the swelling of the soft tissue in the operated area, the symptoms will disappear significantly as soon as the wound recovers.
