Use “fire-clearing” medicine with caution for recurrent mouth sores

The “big name” for recurrent mouth sores is recurrent aphthous ulcers. It is also known as recurrent aphthous stomatitis and recurrent oral ulcers. It is one of the most prevalent diseases of the oral mucosa and can be caused occasionally by the common cold, indigestion, nervousness, depression, decreased immune function, vitamin deficiency, etc. It occurs on the lips, cheeks, tongue, etc., and can appear on any part of the mucosa. The disease is generally self-limiting, and the ulcer can gradually heal itself without scarring after about 7 to 10 days. However, it can recur after an interval of varying length. In severe cases, the patient’s mouth is scattered with multiple ulcers of different sizes, which are very painful. Modern medicine believes that: recurrent aphthous ulcers are first and foremost closely related to immunity. Some patients show immune deficiency, some patients show autoimmune reaction; secondly, there is a relationship with genetics, in the clinic, the onset of recurrent aphthous ulcer, there is a clear tendency of family inheritance, if one or more parents suffer from recurrent aphthous ulcer, their children are more prone to the disease than the average person; in addition, the onset of recurrent aphthous ulcer, but also related to some diseases or symptoms, such as Digestive system diseases: gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, chronic or prolonged hepatitis, colitis, etc., in addition to partial eating, indigestion, fever, lack of sleep, excessive fatigue, stressful work, change of menstrual cycle, etc. With one or more factors active and alternating with a decrease in the immunity of the body, resulting in frequent attacks of recurrent aphthous ulcers. At present, the treatment of recurrent aphthous ulcers includes mouthwash, tablets, cauterization, vitamins and many other treatments, but none of them is effective. It is also common to use Chinese herbal medicines to clear heat and detoxify, which is what patients and doctors call “fire”. But unfortunately, the effect is still not satisfactory, on the contrary, there are many patients taking “fire” drugs after the symptoms are aggravated, or diarrhea, poor appetite and so on. Why is it that patients with mouth ulcers are ineffective when they apply “fire-clearing” drugs? This is the principle of “different treatment for the same disease” in Chinese medicine. In clinical practice, I have found that many patients have recurrent mouth ulcers, but this is an illusion of phase fire on inflammation. This means that the pathogenesis of the patient’s recurrent mouth sores is the deficiency of cold in the spleen and kidneys, so that the phase fire cannot be properly hidden, which leads to the recurrence of mouth sores due to the inflammation of the false fire outside. The patient may have diarrhea, poor appetite, etc. It is recommended that patients apply Chinese herbal soup treatment, which is very effective. Prevention Note: 1. Pay attention to oral hygiene, avoid damage to the oral mucosa, avoid spicy food and local stimulation. 2, keep a relaxed mood, optimistic and cheerful. 3.Ensure sufficient sleep time and avoid overexertion. 4.Pay attention to regularity of life and balanced nutrition.
