Is appendicitis a surgical disease?

Appendicitis is a surgical disease, and surgery is mainly for diseases that require surgical treatment, so appendicitis surgery falls under the category of surgical diseases. Appendicitis is one of the common clinical diseases in general surgery. The typical symptom is metastatic right lower abdominal pain, which is manifested as upper abdominal pain in the early stage, about six hours to half a day or so, and the pain site will shift and fix the right lower abdomen. Ultrasound examination of the appendix will reveal an enlarged appendix in the right lower abdomen, and routine blood tests will reveal significantly elevated white blood cells and neutrophils. The diagnosis of appendicitis can be confirmed by the typical metastatic pain in the right lower abdomen and the results of relevant ancillary tests. Once the diagnosis of appendicitis is clear, timely surgery is recommended to avoid prolonging the disease and forming chronic appendicitis or causing appendiceal abscess, leading to appendiceal perforation, etc. Laparoscopic appendectomy is recommended for appendicitis surgery, which has the advantages of less trauma and faster recovery after surgery.
