Many patients who brake after an injury are faced with a major problem – joint stiffness. However, in order to regain a good joint movement, after seeking medical help, they often undergo a cruel treatment, hard breaking. Most of the patients experience no improvement after severe pain, and even further damage occurs! So let’s see why hard breaking is rejected. Long before 1952, 63 years ago, stiff joints were noticed and treated in the West. The long lever rotation technique was used, manipulating the distal end of the limb to break hard in the direction of restricted motion, the same method still used in many places today, violent hard breaking. We can see the right side of the joint surface colliding, which often produces severe pain and even damage to the bone and surrounding tissues with fractures and tears, yet there was also a lack of improvement in movement and not good traction to the restricted tissues. By 1952, people could not tolerate the severe pain, ineffective treatment, and even joint damage associated with hard breaking, so the short lever rotation method was introduced, which changed from manipulating the distal end of the limb to being close to the joint surface, thus reducing the chance of many joint injuries. But pain and treatment were still not as good as they could have been. As the understanding of joint motion continued, in 1954, linear movement of the bones, including sliding and traction, was introduced in accordance with the principle of concavity of the joint, reducing friction between bone and bone and stretching the soft tissues more, which has become the best method of improving joint mobility today – arthrodesis. The violent and hard break that was eliminated more than 60 years ago can be performed by a single strong man, so why go to a specialized hospital for treatment? It can even cause you more pain and damage! More than 60 years later, there are already perfect techniques, humane treatment, and we hope every patient can receive painless, scientific rehabilitation treatment.
