Why can’t myopic eyes donate blood

Myopic eyes cannot donate blood, in fact, it is accurate to say that highly myopic patients are not suitable for blood donation. The basis for this decision or statement is that high myopia can cause highly myopic fundus lesions, so it is easy to develop retinal detachment complications, and participation in blood donation can easily lead to emotional stress or changes in blood pressure, which may increase the possibility of retinal ischemia or retinal detachment complications in the process. Therefore, many blood collection sites generally recommend that people with high myopia, especially those with more than 800 degrees of myopia, are not suitable to participate in blood donation. However, this is not absolute. As long as there is no organic pathology after a detailed fundus examination, it does not actually affect participation in blood donation.
