What does it feel like to have a fetal movement?

Fetal movement, in general, is the activity of the baby in the womb; it is not very strong and may be very slight. From the medical point of view, the feeling of fetal movement is similar to the feeling of peristaltic movement of the gastrointestinal tract, which is a relatively small kind of movement. Moreover, the fetal movement should appear only after the 4th month of pregnancy, and most of the fetal movements appear around the 5th month. The number of fetal movements can be used to determine the health of the baby. If the number of fetal movements deviates significantly, you should go to the hospital for a checkup. In the early stages of pregnancy, the fetal movements are relatively mild and cannot be detected unless you feel them carefully. In addition, in the middle of pregnancy, there will be a little stronger fetal movement, the mother-to-be can clearly feel the baby kicking the mother’s belly with her feet. In the second trimester, the movement is a little more intense and may be more painful. This is a relatively normal reaction and is nothing to worry about. In general, it is a very normal physiological reaction. The reaction at different times is different. However, if there is sudden and persistent frequent or reduced fetal movement, it may be a manifestation of intrauterine hypoxia, and in serious cases, the fetus may die in the womb, so you need to go to the hospital in time.
