Hypertension and hypercholesterolemia are two different concepts. Hypertension is the elevated lateral pressure of blood on the arterial blood vessel wall during arterial blood flow, generally ≥140/90 mmHg is considered hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia is the abnormal blood lipids and elevated cholesterol in the patient’s serum. Patients with hypertension should take regular oral antihypertensive drugs, monitor blood pressure, and eat a low-salt, low-fat diet to prevent complications. Patients with hypercholesterolemia should eat a light diet, be reviewed regularly, and given lipid-regulating medication if necessary. If patients suffer from both hypertension and hypercholesterolemia, they may accelerate atherosclerosis. They should take regular antihypertensive and lipid-regulating treatment to lower blood pressure to the ideal state, lower blood lipids to normal, and pay attention to the regularity of life, quit smoking and alcohol, limit salt intake to less than 6g per day, and eat less pickled foods and fatty meats and other foods.
