Is it better to have a single gallbladder polyp or many?

The condition and prognosis of multiple and solitary gallbladder polyps need to be judged comprehensively, not only based on the number of polyps. However, on balance, multiple polyps are less likely to become cancerous than single polyps, and are arguably better than single polyps. Gallbladder polyps refer to lesions that protrude or bulge into the gallbladder cavity, and most are benign. There are also a few gallbladder polyps that can become cancerous, and the risk factors include: polyp diameter >1cm; single wide polyp at the base; combined with gallbladder stones and thickening of the wall of the gallbladder; and gradual enlargement of the polyp. The most frequent gallbladder polyps are cholesterol polyps or inflammatory polyps. To summarize, a single large base polyp is more dangerous, and multiple polyps are less likely to become malignant.
