The primary treatment for suppurative appendicitis is the option of surgery, which should cost around 2,000 for a traditional open procedure at a level I hospital, as the disease is a single-patient limited disease. In the case of a tertiary hospital, the cost may double because of the comprehensive preoperative examination involved and the significant difference in pricing. And for this type of disease, the cost increases when laparoscopic surgical treatment is chosen, which involves consumables as well as an energy platform. Also, these are not completely fixed, because for specific types of patients, such as elderly patients or those with comorbid underlying disease, septic appendix is present. Although surgery is performed, secondary postoperative complications, including incisional infection and abdominopelvic abscess formation, lead to prolonged hospitalization of the patient and also increase the cost of treatment.
