Multiple nodules in the breast have a low chance of malignancy. Multiple nodules are considered to be cystic nodules, which are associated with breast hyperplasia and can be painful, usually with regular margins and smooth surfaces. For malignant nodules, they are usually solitary, isolated lesions that commonly occur in the outer upper quadrant of the breast. Malignant nodules may appear on imaging as distinct burr signs, irregular margins, absence of envelope, and even scattered, calcified signs in adjacent tissues. Some patients may even show abnormal changes in the skin of the breast or have localized dimple signs, and malignant nodules should be treated with prompt surgery.
