Interferon for 2 years may have consequences such as bone marrow suppression, abnormal liver function, and impaired consciousness.
Interferon is a broad-spectrum antiviral agent, which cannot directly kill or inhibit the virus, but through the action of cell surface receptors to make cells produce antiviral proteins, so as to inhibit the replication of Hepatitis B virus; at the same time, it enhances the vitality of NK cells, macrophages, and T-lymphocytes, which plays the role of immune regulation and enhances the ability of antiviral.
Its side effects are large and may involve the digestive system, blood system and central nervous system.
1. Digestive system: some patients may have a transient increase in transaminases after interferon injection, affecting liver function.
2. Hematologic system: some patients may experience bone marrow suppression after interferon injection, which is mainly manifested in the decline of blood cells, neutrophils, platelets, and so on.
3. Central nervous system: some patients may have nerve disorders after interferon injection, such as consciousness disorder, numbness of limbs, coma and so on.
Therefore, it is recommended that interferon should be applied in a standardized manner according to the doctor’s instructions, and long-term application is not recommended.
