Do tendon cysts go away on their own?

Tendon cysts may disappear on their own, but the probability is very low and most tendon cysts still require medical intervention and treatment.
1. Tendon sheath cysts: Tendon sheath cysts are benign swellings around the tendon sheaths, the etiology of which is still unclear. The etiologic mechanism is not clear. It is mostly related to degeneration of the joint, long-term repeated irritation and other factors. Tendon sheath cysts can be self-absorbed through the body’s metabolism, but it is often difficult to realize in real life, or the probability of self-absorption is very low.
2. Medical intervention: clinically, most of the tendon sheath cysts can be improved after regular and scientific medical intervention, such as reducing hand activities, decompressing the cysts after puncture and fluid extraction.
The complete disappearance of tendon sheath cysts is still mostly accomplished through surgical procedures, such as complete removal of the cyst along with the removal of the cyst wall through arthroscopic surgery or open surgery.
If a tendon sheath cyst is diagnosed, early and standardized treatment is recommended to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
