How to choose a reasonable pain relief for post-operative hemorrhoid pain?

The first problem that plagues people after hemorrhoid surgery is “post-operative pain”, and it is because of the post-operative pain that many patients, rather than suffer from hemorrhoid disease, are deterred from surgical treatment. So people often say that hemorrhoid surgery is “a small problem, a big pain”. In recent years, for humane treatment, painless surgery with saddle anesthesia has been widely implemented, allowing patients to truly enjoy zero pain during surgery and no longer be deterred from surgical treatment, but the problem of painful post-operative wounds still plagues patients. It is necessary for us to first understand what are the main causes of painful wounds after hemorrhoid surgery? Hemorrhoid surgery is different from other sterile surgeries such as orthopedics and general surgery because of the specificity of its surgical site. Since feces contaminates the incision during daily bowel movements, the surgical incision in the anal area is an infected incision, so the post-operative incision cannot be sutured, but is an open incision. There are many reasons for postoperative pain in hemorrhoids, but in layman’s terms, it is mainly due to the reflex spasm of the anal sphincter caused by painful incision after anesthesia, which makes the anal contraction tighter and intensifies the pain, thus forming a “pain
– spasm – repain-
This results in a vicious circle of “pain, spasm, pain, spasm again”. The pain relief injection can stop the pain, but it has a certain timeliness, and can not effectively relieve the spasm of the anal sphincter, so the phenomenon that most patients after hemorrhoid surgery pain relief injection, the effect is very small or simply ineffective, often the pain relief injection becomes a psychological placebo, doctors often do not recommend the pain relief injection. So what should we use after hemorrhoid surgery in order to effectively relieve the pain of the wound? Through my years of clinical observation and combined with the patients’ own personal experience, we found that the most effective method of pain relief after hemorrhoid surgery is not pain relief shots, but “warm water sitz baths”. The warm water bath method can directly and quickly relieve anal spasm, thus achieving rapid pain relief. However, it is important to note that the warm water bath should be taken after 24 hours after surgery, otherwise it may aggravate the inflammatory reaction in the anal area and even lead to bleeding or hematoma formation on the wound surface, which may aggravate the pain.
