Do you need to take painkillers after taking targeted drugs for advanced lung cancer?

There is no need to take painkillers if the pain is not obvious after taking targeted drugs in advanced stage of lung cancer, or need to take painkillers if the pain is obvious. In the late stage of lung cancer, because of systemic metastasis and spread of cancer cells, most patients will mostly be accompanied by severe pain. Targeted drugs may act on the tumor and play the effect and role of shrinking the tumor to help alleviate the pain, but whether it is necessary to take painkillers or not needs to be determined according to the patient’s condition. If the tumor is shrunk after taking the targeted drugs, the patient’s pain is not very obvious and the body can tolerate it, the patient can temporarily not take pain medication; however, if the pain will be more intense, the patient will need to take pain medication, such as morphine and tramadol, to help relieve the symptoms. Drugs need to be taken under the guidance of a doctor.
