Daily care and precautions for psoriasis

  Psoriasis is a chronic recurrent inflammatory skin disease that not only affects aesthetics, but is also difficult to cure, and its patients suffer from it. As the saying goes, “three parts treatment and seven parts maintenance”, the daily care of this disease is no less important than its treatment. In the daily care, according to the characteristics of the disease to take the right approach.  1. Diet Some studies have pointed out that psoriasis can cause nutritional deficiencies, and proper nutrition is important for personal health. Supplementation of protein, folic acid, water and calories can improve the general condition. A low-fat balanced diet is recommended, and the diet should be diversified, with a proper mix of dry and thin, coarse and fine, meat and vegetables. Eat a variety of vegetables and fruits daily to keep bowel movements smooth. You should eat more vegetables such as cabbage, carrot, white radish, eggplant, cabbage and potato. Spicy and fishy products should be avoided. Eat less greasy food and avoid smoking and alcohol. In addition, fish oil may also be beneficial for psoriasis, but it is still debated.  2, physical exercise Physical exercise helps maintain joint strength and range of motion, and is often used for isometric exercise. Those with spinal involvement should avoid prolonged bed rest, and should often perform stretching exercises, while calcium and vitamin D are available to prevent osteoporosis or fractures after minor trauma, and calcitonin and bisphosphonates are used when necessary. When swimming, chlorine in the water may cause the rash to aggravate, you can apply petroleum jelly or mineral oil on the affected area before swimming, rinse with tap water after swimming, before drying, apply emollient cream.  3, nail care Nails should be trimmed frequently, nail trauma is prone to worsen or develop nail psoriasis, and it is best to wear gloves when working with your hands. The nails should be cleaned and scraped to remove dirt with gentle movements. You can often soak your nails, put three caps of tar solution in a bowl of warm water, soak your hands for about 20 minutes, then apply moisturizer to your nails, or use nail hardener. These above-mentioned care matters should be understood by patients with erythrodermic psoriasis, and patients should also learn more about psoriasis.  4, physical therapy Physical therapy (such as warm baths, heat and cold therapy, etc.) and rehabilitation can greatly improve joint function and relieve pain. Swollen joints with inflammation can be braked, and cold compresses can reduce swelling and improve range of motion.  5.Avoid skin injury Even minor injury can worsen psoriasis. Sometimes psoriasis occurs in the area of skin injury, especially in the active phase. A rash can also appear where the ear is pierced, however, this rash responds well to local treatment and can heal as long as there is no infection.  6, prevention and control of infections including streptococcal infections can trigger psoriasis, which should be treated with antibiotics as soon as possible. Patients who often have recurrences caused by tonsillitis or sore throat should be treated with antibiotics as early as possible.
