Protection against hair loss during chemotherapy

Chemotherapy, one of the key treatments for cancer, has side effects that can seriously affect the physical and mental health of patients, particularly during chemotherapy, when certain chemotherapy drugs can cause severe hair loss. A large amount of hair may fall out just by gently running your fingers through your hair. It can be frustrating to have to remove these strands of hair from your pillow, clothing, and other places on a regular basis to completely remove them. But we cannot ignore the fact that the hair loss is caused by chemotherapy, i.e. the hair will grow back once the treatment is knotted|. But even so, it is important to wear a wig, bandana, brimless hat or duck cap or the like until then, and to know something about care. Initial scalp discomfort Chemotherapy not only causes hair loss, but also causes scalp discomfort, burning, tingling or itching within a week or two of the first treatment, a so-called “sensory abnormality” that is worse than actual hair loss. This discomfort can last until the hair is completely lost. But in between rounds of chemotherapy. The hair grows back again. During the next round of treatment, the new hair starts to fall out again, and the discomfort occurs again. Short-term baldness The bare scalp also needs careful care, even more so than when it is full of auburn hair. Here are some suggestions to follow: Wash your hair: Washing your hair washes away oil stains as well as dead skin cells. Again, it is recommended to use a mild, non-irritating shampoo and it is best to spend a minute or two in the shower massaging your scalp. Deactivated hair roots will shed on their own when you gently press or tap the scalp with your fingertips. The massage also improves blood circulation to the scalp and helps the hair to grow back. Medicinal bath: After washing your hair, you can use blood-activating herbs and mulberry leaf water to apply to your head externally, together with massage to promote local metabolism. Moisturizing: Dry skin is prone to itching and discomfort, and dry and cracked skin can cause infection. So you should try to make your scalp moisturized and keep the integrity of your scalp. This way you won’t feel a strange dry discomfort in your scalp. Sun protection: If you have little hair or a bare scalp, you should wear a hat or use sunscreen to protect yourself from UV rays. Isolation: Avoid cold air blowing directly on the scalp in cold climates, in air-conditioned rooms and when sleeping, as well as avoiding overheating in the summer, which can cause a scalp heat rash that can lead to further infection. Chinese medicine treatment: before and after chemotherapy and during chemotherapy, patients can take oral and external Chinese medicine treatment to improve local blood flow and promote metabolism, as the saying goes, “hair is the remainder of blood”, sufficient qi and blood and smooth veins can promote hair regeneration. In short, the patient’s immunity is low during chemotherapy, and it is very easy to infect other diseases, and hair loss is only one of the effects of chemically toxic drugs on normal human tissues, we should maintain a normal heart to treat hair loss, which will be more conducive to the development of the disease.
