How to treat obese hypertension

Obesity is a risk factor causing high blood pressure. Obese people suffering from high blood pressure can be treated in the following aspects: 1. Obesity management: including reasonable diet, moderate exercise, smoking and alcohol cessation, emotional management, etc.; 2. Drug use; 3. Management of other diseases.
1. Obesity management: the adipose tissue of obese people, especially the fat of internal organs, will affect the body metabolism, damage the endothelial cells of blood vessels, and cause the increase of blood pressure. Lifestyle intervention: control weight so that BMI <24 (kg/m²), daily low-salt and low-fat diet, potassium salt supplementation, more fresh vegetables and fruits, quit smoking and drinking, increase exercise, relaxation, and maintain emotional stability. 2. Use of drugs: Drug treatment is recommended if the patient has the following conditions: (1) Systolic blood pressure ≥ 160 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥ 100 mmHg; (2) Combined diabetes mellitus or damage to the heart, liver, brain and other organs; (3) Those whose blood pressure is not controlled despite the above lifestyle interventions. 3. Management of other diseases: other diseases must be treated at the same time. Such as combined diabetes mellitus, need to control blood sugar; combined with dyslipidemia need to lower blood lipids; combined with renal disease, substantial diseases need to protect renal units while lowering blood pressure, vascular disease in time to lift the renal vascular stenosis; combined with pheochromocytoma feasible surgical resection and so on. Numerous studies have shown that through the management of obesity, patients lose weight, weight control down, blood pressure will have a certain improvement, and even be able to drop to normal. Patients need to actively manage themselves to avoid more serious consequences.
